Winter tyres
It’s probably been discussed a million times.. but does anyone run winter tyres and what are the thoughts? I have been looking and Yokohama WDrive come in Aygo 14&15 inch sizes, so will fit my car.
I drive 450 miles a week and this week as been so rainy, icey and generally terrible. On my drive to work today I saw 2 accidents. It got me thinking 🤔 about my optimum tyre safety.
so are winter tyres worth it or are my Continental eco contact 5s hard to beat? I know winters are the law in lots of parts of Europe so assume they are a good thing?
Any thought / experience shares welcome :)

Reverse Camera guide lines
I sort of hyjacked another topic under the DRL topic I started, so I thought I'd start a proper separate one.
I just had a thought about the omission of the reverse cameras screen guidelines on the 2014 Aygo x-pression I have just bought.
What if I got hold of a replacement camera from a breakers yard which was breaking a Toyota Aygo, one of the later models, say from 2019, is it as easy as I'm thinking to just unplug the existing camera and plug in the new camera. Surely the connector is near the camera and surely the access to it is easy on such a small car ?
I read earlier that the guidelines are in the camera itself and not on the cars head unit ??
Does anyone know from which year Toyota put the cameras guidelines back on the camera ?

Aygo (2015) infotainment upgrade Android Auto and Apple Carplay
Yesterday I ordered the new "86140-YV020" infotainment system from a webshop in poland. This is the unit with Android Auto and Apple Carplay support. I'm going to replace this unit with my current model (86140-0H020). I will inform you guys if it works or not.
I'm going to do this to my Peugeot 108 (2015).

Power Steering Light Keeps Comming On
hi a newbie here just wanted some advice
my aygo auto 07 ...the power steering light keeps coming on and its near impossible to turn so i have to stop and start it till it goes off i can't see anywhere to put power steering fluid so must work some other way any advice please

Seat wear/pilling
My Aygo is only 18months old yet I've noticed the seat fabric is starting to 'pill' with wear marks starting already on the driver's seat.
Has anyone else had this?

x-connect - possible upgrades?
I've just received my new Aygo x-clusiv Style Selection which has the "x-connect" System (with CarPlay and Android Auto). It doesn't have DAB or built-in navigation. Both were also not available as options when ordering.
Model ID: 18PPDAEU-EA00
Hard No: 86140-YV010
However, the manual suggests that both features are possible with this unit. Also ebay lists some 86140-YV010 devices as "NAVI" units. Does anybody know, if/how this unit can be upgraded?
Also, I've looked for possible software updates on the toyota-tech.eu site but even with my VIN I only get an update for a 13TPDAEU-EA01 unit, not for the 18PPDAEU-EA00 in my car. Does anybody know where to get software updates?

Aygo rear window defrost/heater wires
Hello Everyone,
I am back again asking for help and advice from the community. I now have a nice little 2008 Aygo which I bought second hand in July 2015, but I have noticed the electrical connector on the rear windscreen is slowly detaching itself from the glass. Is this going to be an expensive specialist repair? I have a tried to attach two photographs which illustrate the problem.
Any comments would be welcome.

2014 Aygo automatic gearbox judder
Hi all! My other half has a 2014 Aygo Xclusive with an automatic gearbox. Can't remember how long its done it for (had car since about June/July 2018), but when you pull off, usually most noticeable first thing in the morning when its cold, there's quite a noticeable judder from the gearbox (i assume) and the car is a bit jerky at low speeds until it sort of, warms up? Don't get me wrong, it's hardly the smoothest of gearboxes, but i'm not sure if it's normal for it do it (hope not), or whether the clutch is slipping, or something else. I've tried gently pulling away and pulling away with more throttle to see if that makes any difference but seems to still do it. Doesn't do it when the engine/gearbox is warm i don't think.
Car has done just over 40k miles. Any one get any ideas before taking it to the dealer? Although it's one of those annoying things where you need the dealer to be able to replicate it, and if it doesn't do it when they have it, it's a waste of time 🤣
Other than that, it's a great little car! :)

Changed battery, car wont start.
Hi, as the title says I changed a low Battery for a fully charged one, (newish), and when re-connected the indicators stayed on, (no flashing), and the engine will turn over but not catch. It seems to have "locked" me out. Any idea where the "reset" button is?

69 plate Aygo X play Clutch burning smell
We have a 69 plate pre reg only done 200 miles and picked it up with 5 miles on the clock last week from a Toyota dealer. We get a clutch burning smell when setting off on inclines or in stop start traffic with and revs are less than 2500 rpm, will this smell disappear with use as the clutch beds down. Never had this in any other car but did notice it in a 1700 mile Aygo 69 plate demo but dealer put it down to abuse as its a service car too. Just hope this face lift model doesn't have the old clutch issues that plagued the previous model.

Tapping noise from internal trim?
Hi all,
Recently an occasional tapping noise has started coming from somewhere around the back of the interior of my 2012 3 door Aygo. It seems to coincide more with changes of direction rather than general vibrations. I've ruled out anything that was in the boot or around the spare wheel or the parcel shelf. It sounds like it coming from higher up than that. Based on the sound, my best guess would be a wire flapping about behind the interior trim. Any suggestions of other easy things to check before I start taking things apart? Does anyone know which route the wires for the rear lights take?
It's had a rattle from the internal trim in cold conditions for years which I've put up with because it goes away as the car warms up. I think it's coming from the area around the passenger side back window as the plastics are a bit loose on that side but this sounds like something else and since it's not going away, I'd like to hunt it down!

aygo power steering
hi all.
ok I have a 2007 standard version. it failed its mot due to a broken exhaust manifold. Decided to do the work myself. To my horror I found it must have been in a front end crash as the crash bar was all impacted and radiator badly damaged but not leaking. I have replaced all, took about 3 month on and off due to work. in that time its stayed on the drive. Finished the work yesterday and fired it up. PS light is staying on. I've checked for codes but are none stored. Steering has defiantly gone heavy so its not working. does anyone have a suggestion on where to go next? ECU or steering motor?

Impressions and questions for Aygo 2014 model
I am a new owner of the Aygo 2014 model. In the small period I own the car, I learned a lot about it, but exploration goes on and there comes a time when you discover that you need this so useful sharing experience like the one that is done in this forum.
I have my first impressions, but also many questions about the car.
And I am sure that the answers I can get from real everyday owners and users, no official branch or representative would ever give me.
So, lets start. Please feel free to comment in any of the following thoughts or questions of mine.
- Sound system.
I find it terrible! I took a version that maybe not available in other countries than Greece (x-city), but even for a two-speakers system, it sound very bad! And I am not a person with high expectations! I had the chance to drive and hear even the x-play version of aygo, which is the best one in terms of sound system. I did not heard significant improvement. I could never imagine that a new car of our days would ever have such dull sound. No bass, but even the treble is awful. How is it possible, a cheap 10 euros bluetooth speaker, to have better sound than the one in this car? I mean, they should have put the most useless Speakers they could found on market!
Am I the only one that is annoyed with the sound output?
Is there any suggestion/solution? I am very skeptical if it is wise to go and replace Speakers, and I mean that I do not want to make any harm to the car, with cables, or power supply etc. Where are the Speakers positions? I hear the sound from the dashboard (left-right Speakers), while I can see Speakers cases in the front doors too? Are these door speaker cases empty but wired and ready to connect Speakers, or they are almost useless?
Does anyone dealt with the sound topic of this car?
- Plastic strip, downside the front bumper.
Underneath the front bumper, there is a black plastic strip.
How sturdy is this? Sometimes when I try to park the car using a ramp, I hear it touching the ground. Not a lot, just a little, and not every time. But will it remain there after such repeating situations?
- Windscreen rubber.
In the exterior of the windscreen, I see that rubber is used for finishing touches. Will this remain sturdy after some years, in several weather conditions?
- Car exhaust.
What about the car exhaust? I can’t understand why it should be visible, while in older aygo model it was not. It seems like being exposed without an obvious reason for me.
- Exposed pipes.
When I take a look under the car, I can see two pipes in left and right of the car, and in front of them some kind of protective plastic piece in front of them. What are these? I believe that whatever they are, they should not be such exposed. Don’t you believe that these pipes are so fragile to be cut or damaged in a random obstacle on the road? And then what? Why they should be put this way? And what we can do about it? Any concern or advice?
- Roof bars.
I asked Toyota to tell be if there are official roof bars and they were negative! So, not only limited space due to cars’ small dimensions, but no roof bars too. I believe that maybe there are third party solutions on the market, but I am very concerned about the possible damage on the doors rubbers or impermeability matters. Does anyone made any investigation on this? Any eBay suggestions?
- Alarm.
I got my car with alarm. The one that Toyota suggests. Not absolutely ‘official’, as I could not configure it from the beginning, but putting such thing in the final order, and it was placed by Toyota before I got the car. It is from ‘meta’ systems. Anyone with such alarm on his Aygo? There was a confusion with Toyota, whether the remote control could be put inside the car’s primary key or not. At last they told me that this could not be done due to some circuit incompatibility issues, while on the beginning of my order the had told me that this could be done. So, they gave me a separate remote control for the alarm, and now have to carry both the car key and alarms remote control too. Does anyone knows about it?
- Fuel.
I am impressed with the low fuel consumption. I am very glad that the car is so economic. Does anyone used Shell’s ‘v-power’ with this Aygo to tell me if it makes any further difference? I change the shift every time the indicator flashes. Any other advice for saving?
- Soil roads.
How well does this car can go in roads with soil and dust? I know that this is a city car, but I am talking only for sporadic visits to remote villages every now and then, and for soil roads that are rather maintained. But I still wonder if there is any danger for the car, like low height, or the pipes underneath, or car exhaust etc.
- Robust or fragile.
Speaking in general, I am satisfied with this Aygo, though I have it only the latest months. But it gives me a feeling that it is not a so robust car. I hope I am wrong though. I pay attention to any of my cars’ needs and so I will do with this one too, but I wonder if this is really a hard and durable Toyota as we knew these cars in the past, or just a fragile modern car, which has many imperfections. I intend to keep it for many years, over a decade, so I hope that it is really a good choice. I would like to hear experiences from owners who have it for 2-3 years(new model) and general opinions from older Toyota owners. I need to know the real boundaries of this car.
